2 Injured in Modesto Auto Accident on Carver Road and Briggsmore Avenue

 
MODESTO, CA (January 20, 2022) – Sunday morning, authorities arrested Michael Amie following a DUI crash on Carver Road.
 
The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Carver Road and Briggsmore Avenue. According to Traffic Sgt. Dan Starr, a witness reported seeing sparks coming from a red Chevrolet Camaro. Apparently, the Camaro traveled at an estimated 90 mph on northbound Carver Road.
 
Then, the Camaro failed to yield at a red light and struck an eastbound Nissan Maxima on Briggsmore Avenue. As a result, the Nissan driver, a 69-year-old Modesto woman, and the Camaro passenger, a 35-year-old Waterford woman, sustained major injuries.
 
The Waterford woman sustained multiple broken bones. Starr said that she was trapped inside the Camaro for 35 minutes as firefighters extricated her.
 
Meanwhile, the Camaro driver, 47-year-old Michael Amie of Modesto, suffered no injuries.
 
Eventually, authorities arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence.
