Passenger Injured in I-37 Deadly Crash
Bexar County, TX (July 21, 2024) – 20-year-old Deputy Meredith Portillo and her passenger were killed in an Interstate 37 head-on crash early Sunday morning.
The SAPD officers received the crash report at 2 a.m. near Loop 1604.
Troopers said a Ford F150 northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway.
Minutes later, the Ford F150 crashed head-on into a Ford Mustang with Deputy Portillo and two other occupants.
The Ford F150 rolled over and burst into fire.
Deputy Portillo and one of the Mustang passengers were killed at the scene while the other passenger was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The F150 driver was killed in the fire.
Officers are investigating the cause of this fatal collision.
