Merced Man Killed in Highway 99 Pedestrian Accident [Madera County, CA]

Madera County, CA (January 27, 2023) – On Wednesday night, a 32-year-old Merced man sustained fatal injuries in a Highway 99 pedestrian accident.

CHP said the traffic incident took place at about 10 p.m. in the area of Avenue 20 1/2.

According to the investigators, the man got out of his car and walked into traffic.

At the same time, a 31-year-old woman from Chowchilla was driving a Ford. She did not have time to avoid the pedestrian.

Responding officers declared the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Officers are investigating the Madera County collision.  They said it is not yet identified if alcohol or drugs were factor in the accident.
