Man Struck by Multiple Vehicles That All Left the Scene on Highway 99 near V Street
MERCED, CA (April 27, 2018) – A hit-and-run collision on Highway 99 claimed the life of an unidentified man, early Friday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol Merced officers, the fatal incident happened around 1:00 AM. They received reports about a man wandering in the southbound traffic lanes of Highway 99, just north of V Street. Witnesses claimed that the man was “flipping off” vehicles passing by.
Upon the arrival of the responding officers, they discovered the man lying in the road. It was revealed in the preliminary investigation that the man had been hit by multiple vehicles whose drivers left the scene. The police have officially announced that the case is a “hit-and-run”, and they are currently conducting further investigation on the accident and the drivers who fled the scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the man, as they search for the cause of the collision. No information was released about the description of the vehicles that are allegedly involved in the deadly collision.
