Hit-and-Run Driver Wanted after Death of Pedestrian on Briggs Road
MENIFEE, CA (May 12, 2018) – A 27-year-old Perris man lost his life early Saturday morning in a pedestrian collision on State Highway 74. The police are now asking for the public’s help in locating the driver responsible for the fatal incident.
According to the police, the collision happened at 1:04 AM on Highway 74 just between Briggs Road and McKinley Road. A pedestrian was walking in the slow lane of the highway when a vehicle struck him. The driver did not stop and fled from the scene.
The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was declared dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released, pending notification of family members.
Affected areas on Highway 74 were temporarily shut down but later reopened to the public around 6:30 AM.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal accident, and are encouraging witnesses or anyone with relevant information about the driver to contact Deputy Grimm at the Menifee Police Department by calling (951) 210-1000. Callers can refer to incident file number “ME181320003” and can remain anonymous. Citizens may also submit a tip using the Sheriff’s CrimeTips online form.
