Pedestrian Struck while Crossing On-Ramp on 4th Street to the 5 Freeway
MARYSVILLE, WA (January 18, 2018) – Around 6:59 AM on Friday morning, Washington State Patrol reported a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian, on the 4th Street on-ramp to Interstate 5.
According to Trooper Keith Leary, 55-year old Melvin Dye of Seattle was walking on the on-ramp, when hit by a white Dodge pickup truck. He was thrown onto the fog line and was unresponsive. A witness pulled over and called authorities.
Dye was still unresponsive when emergency responders arrived at the scene, and was taken to Everett Hospital. He was reported to have critical head injuries and broken bones.
Witnesses say that they saw the driver pull over on the southbound Interstate 5 a few times, but then the Dodge continued to driver further away from the scene of the incident. There is no specific description of the driver, but troopers continue their search for the hit-and-run suspect.
