HILMAR, CA (January 16, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, 30-year-old Melo Toste Correia suffered injuries in a motorcycle crash on Highway 165.
 
The crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle happened at 2:37 a.m. Moreover, it occurred on Highway 165, south of Fowler Road near Hilmar.
 
According to reports, a 76-year old Hilmar woman drove a 1999 Honda Accord north on Highway 165. As she slowed to turn left, her car crashed with Melo Toste Correia riding a 2002 Kawasaki ZX600.
 
Meanwhile, some witnesses said that Toste Correia drove about 80 mph and passed vehicles. Then, he continued heading another 80 feet after the crash. Eventually, the motorcycle hit a cable box which ejected Toste Correia from the motorcycle. As a result, he fell another 200 feet, said CHP Officer Eric Zuniga.
 
As a result, Toste Correia sustained lacerations to his head and possibly internal bleeding. Then, responders took him to a Modesto-area hospital.
 
Also, responders took the Hilmar woman to an area hospital out of precaution. Furthermore, the authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
