Melissa Patania Dead in Sonora DUI Car Crash on Phoenix Lake Road
SONORA, CA (October 29, 2020) – Monday night, authorities arrested Augustus Marinovich after a fatal accident on Phoenix Lake Road that left Melissa Patania, 33, dead.
Moreover, the CHP revealed that the DUI crash occurred at about 6:15 p.m. According to reports, it happened on Phoenix Lake Road near Bear Cub Drive.
Indeed, reports from the Sonora Unit California Highway Patrol revealed that the 33-year-old Sonora woman died at the scene.
Meanwhile, her four juvenile passengers, all aging below 14, sustained major injuries. An air ambulance transported all of them to UC Davis Medical Center.
The authorities revealed that 19-year-old Augustus Matthew Marinovich lost control of his pickup truck. Then, he crashed with the female driver of a 1996 Suzuki SUV.
Subsequently, the crash also left Marinovich with major injuries. Thus, responders airlifted him to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Furthermore, the authorities charged him with vehicular manslaughter and DUI.
Melissa Patania is survived by her five children, some that are still recovering from the injuries they sustained in the crash.
