Tuolumne County, CA (July 31, 2020) – On Thursday, Melissa Ann Mccullough, Rashawn Turner, and a toddler sustained injuries in a crash on North Fork Road.
Moreover, the accident happened at just after 4 p.m. on North Fork Road, which is about 5.5 miles south of Highway 108.
Moreover, CHP Officer Faustino Pulido said 20-year-old Kayla Marie Dickerson-Childres of Merced was driving a Toyota Yaris and swerved over the double yellow lines.
Just then, she met the path of a Dodge truck driven by Brian Finigan of Sonora. As a result, the vehicles crashed with each other.
Luckily, Finigan’s passengers were not hurt. However, Dickerson-Childre’s two passengers from Copperopolis were moderately injured.
Police identified them as 33-year-old Melissa Ann McCullough and 25-year-old Donte Rashawn Turner. The rescue team took them to Adventist Health Sonora.
Also, a two-year-old boy from Copperopolis, seated in the front-facing car seat on Dickerson-Childre’s car sustained major injuries. Immediately, the emergency team flew him to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto.
Meanwhile, officer Pulido encourages everyone to make sure car seats are properly installed. Sonora Area CHP office has safety technicians to inspect seats and educate parents about the proper installation and use. He mentioned you can receive more information by calling the CHP office at 209-984-3944.
As always, be a proactive driver, rather than a reactive one. Driving defensively prepares you for emergency situations.
