Grandmother and Granddaughter Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near East Live Oak Street
SAN GABRIEL, CA (October 26, 2018) – A grandmother and her granddaughter were killed Friday evening following a hit-and-run crash near East Live Oak Street. The victims were later identified as 59-year-old Meiyu Li and 1-year-old Paisley Chen, both residents of San Gabriel.
As per reports, the incident occurred at about 9:35 PM on South Del Mar Avenue. Li was pushing her granddaughter’s stroller in a crosswalk when they were struck by a Chevrolet S10 Xtreme.
Li was rushed to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, while the child was transported to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center. Unfortunately, they both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
The unidentified Chevrolet driver did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run driver and/or the vehicle is asked to call San Gabriel police at (626) 308-2828. No further details have been provided to the public, as an investigation is ongoing.
