Matthew McEnerney and Ethan Sellers Dead after Dublin Accident
DUBLIN, CA (July 5, 2019) – Coroner identified the victims in the solo-car crash in Dublin as Matthew McEnerney, 35, and Ethan Sellers, 29.
The fatal accident happened around 1:45 a.m. on southbound Fallon Road near Antone Way on Thursday, July 4.
According to the Dublin Police Department, the car slammed into a light post killing the driver and passenger. Both victims died at the scene.
The cause of the incident is not yet determined, but police said speed was a factor. Based on skid marks, they were definitely driving over the posted speed limit, according to Capt. Nate Schmidt with Dublin Police Department.
Capt. Schmidt stated it is still too early to determine if drugs or alcohol was a factor. He also said the vehicle caught fire after it collided into a light pole in the center divider.
Police said that the crash closed Fallon Road near Antone Way in both directions until around 11:30 a.m. According to the police captain, motorists should use Tassajara Road as a detour.
The investigation about the incident is still ongoing.
Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Matthew McEnerney and Ethan Sellers. We wish them strength and comfort during this challenging time.
