1 Dead in Tucson Pedestrian Crash on 22nd Street
TUCSON, AZ (January 10, 2021) – Thursday morning, Matthew Edward Sherman died in a pedestrian accident on 22nd Street.
The authorities responded to the crash scene at about 4:30 a.m. According to reports, a serious-injury crash involving a pedestrian happened in the area of 400 block of E. 22nd Street.
When the authorities arrived at the scene, they declared 46-year-old Matthew Edward Sherman dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the officers clarified that they have notified the family of the deceased.
According to the investigation, Sherman was trying to cross from south to north on 22nd Street. However, Sherman didn’t use a crosswalk when a Marron 2007 Ford Fusion hit him.
The police said that the Ford Fusion traveled in the median lane, heading east on 22nd Street during the collision. Furthermore, the driver remained at the scene.
The Tucson Police Department added, “detectives noted the pedestrian was wearing non-reflective dark clothing and that the street lights in the area were operational.”
Furthermore, a DUI officer came to the scene and found out that the driver was not impaired during the collision. Thus, the officers cited the driver for a corrective lens restriction violation.
The crash remains under active investigation.
