Morning Fiery Crash at De Portola Road and Calle Arboles Kills 1 and Injures 3 Juveniles
TEMECULA, CA (January 11, 2020) – A man was killed and three children were hurt following a fiery crash Saturday morning in Temecula.
The crash happened around 9:40 a.m. in the area of De Portola Road and Calle Arboles.
According to CHP reports, a white Ford F150 was speeding eastbound on De Portola Road when it struck the center median curb. It then rolled over on its roof and caught fire.
The driver of the pickup truck was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner’s office identified him Sunday night as Matthew Creed, 32 of Temecula.
Sheriff’s deputies rescued three children from the burning vehicle. Paramedics then transported them to a nearby hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
Authorities did not give the ages of the juveniles.
It is unclear what led to the fiery crash. The sheriff’s Temecula station traffic team is investigating the crash and ask anyone with information on it to contact Dep. Daniel Hoctor at 951-696-3000.
