UKIAH, CA (January 7, 2019) – A man was airlifted with major injuries following a DUI wrong-way crash Monday evening in Ukiah.
The crash happened around 9:13 p.m. on Highway 101, just North of Highway 20.
According to reports, a 51-year-old Ransome Anderson of Covelo was driving his pickup truck southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 101. At the same time, a 40-year-old Matthew Adams was driving his sedan northbound on the highway.
Both man swerved to avoid a head-on collision, but they still crashed. The sedan flipped to one side, up against a fence on the right shoulder, while the pickup truck stopped in a traffic lane.

Anderson was arrested and was booked into Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of DUI causing injury, driving without a license and insurance, and failing to appear in court on a prior felony case, according to jail records. His bail was $175,000.
Investigation of this incident is still ongoing.
Getting a DUI is not an easy time emotionally or physically. It is important to make the personal choice not to drink and drive, but it is also important to look out for others who may be driving while intoxicated and to persuade those who have been drinking not to get behind the wheel. Your small choices can make a big difference in road safety.
