37-Year-Old Santa Rosa Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash near Occidental Road
SANTA ROSA, CA (September 15, 2018) – A man was killed Saturday evening following a pedestrian crash on Stony Point Road. The victim was later identified as 37-year-old Mathew Thomas Eck, a resident of Santa Rosa.
As per reports, Eck was struck by a small white car near the intersection of Occidental Road and Stony Point Road, shortly before 9:20 PM. A passing driver found the victim in the street and immediately called 911 for help.
The preliminary investigation suggests that Eck was thrown several hundred feet from the point of impact and ended up near the driveway of Round Table Pizza. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle involved stopped by the body for 10 to 20 seconds before fleeing the scene. There is no upated description of the hit-and-run driver or vehicle involved.
