4 People Hurt in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision near Mud Bay Road
Thurston County, WA (July 14, 2023) On Wednesday afternoon, ma motorcyclist died and 4 people were hurt in a 4-car crash on US 101.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the fatal multi-vehicle collision happened around 1 p.m. near Mud Bay Road.
Reports say that the collision involved a Chevy pickup truck, a motorcycle, a Nissan hatchback, and a Honda SUV.
Officials say that the Chevy driver, a 41-year-old Rochester man, hit a 46-year-old Olympia man on a motorcycle, the rider was slowing down for traffic in lane one of the highway.
The impact of the crash caused a chain reaction crash when the motorcycle hits a Nissan hatchback, that then collided with the Honda SUV.
Authorities ay that the Olympia man died at the scene, while 4 people from the Nissan suffered injuries and was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
The occupants of the Nissan includes a 40-year-old Yelm man, 23-year-old Yelm man, a 44-year-old McKenna man and a 55-year-old man from Newport News, Virginia.
WSP is investigating the multi-vehicle collision and says that impairment was not a factor, however following too close have possibly caused the fatal multi-vehicle collision near Mud Bay Road.
