9 Injured in El Paso Multi-Vehicle Accident near Artcraft Road and South Desert Boulevard

EL PASO, TX (August 1, 2023) – Early Monday morning, a human smuggling pursuit ended in a massive 3-car crash near Artcraft Road.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman, a trooper chased a vehicle that crashed at around 12:50 a.m. near Artcraft Road and South Desert Boulevard.

Officers said that the crash involved three vehicles, including the pursued vehicle.

Then, the driver of the pursued vehicle tried to escape after the crash but was apprehended and taken to a local hospital along with six migrants who were also in the pursued vehicle.

Meanwhile, the driver of the second vehicle was also transported to a local hospital and received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers said that the passengers, including a child, are in critical but stable condition.

The El Paso Fire Department responded to the “mass casualty incident.”

According to fire officials, 8 people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Then, one person sustained severe injuries while another person declined hospitalization.

Moreover, the driver of the third vehicle sustained no injuries in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
