Mary Tickell of Gatesville Killed in Vehicle Crash on Highway 14 [Coryell County, TX]

Coryell County, TX (February 14, 2023) – On Sunday, Mary Tickell, 74, of Gatesville, lost her life in a vehicle crash on Highway 14.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers arrived at the crash scene about 9:57 a.m. west of Gatesville. 

According to the authorities, a 2001 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck driven by a 34-year-old Gatesville man was eastbound on the freeway.

At the same time, a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse SUV was driven by a 68-year-old Gatesville woman out of a private drive. The vehicle pulled onto the highway but the driver failed to yield right-of-way driving into the path of the pickup truck.

As a result, the pickup truck crashed on the passenger side of the Traverse. The front-seat passenger, Mary Tickell, died at the scene. 

Officers are investigating the vehicle collision west of Gatesville.
