Passenger Dies after Car Overturns During Heavy Downpours in Moreno Valley
MORENO VALLEY, CA (November 30, 2019) – A passenger who died in a rollover crash two weeks ago during heavy downpours in Moreno Valley has been identified.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Mary Lambright, 68, of Yucaipa.
The crash was reported about 12:30 p.m. on southbound Redlands Boulevard, just north of Manzanita Avenue.
A 1998 BMW sedan, driven by 39-year-old Matthew Wimberly of Yucaipa, had lost control and went off the west road edge down an embankment. The car then came to rest on its roof, CHP officials said.
Heavy rain was moving through the area at the time of the crash.
Lambright, the front passenger, died at the scene.
Wimberly was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Officials said distracted driving may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mary Lambright in this very unfortunate time of their lives.
