1 Dead and 1 Injured after Vehicle Overturns near Hammett Road
SALIDA, CA (July 25, 2019) – Authorities identified 58-year-old Mary Johnson of Stockton as the woman killed in a rollover crash on Highway 99, early Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Hammett Road, at about 12:30 AM. Due to unknown reasons, a northbound Ford SUV made a sudden right turn. Then, the vehicle traveled off of the east side of the road, crashed through a chain-link fence, and rolled over.
Johnson suffered critical injuries after she was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency responders rushed her to Doctors Medical Center, where she died of her injuries. Meanwhile, her 41-year-old passenger, Jaquai Kimble, sustained moderate injuries.
An inspection of the vehicle’s safety restraint system will be done by the CHP. Investigators will release additional information to the public once it becomes available.
