Eric Ramirez Aguilar Arrested in Deadly DUI Hit-and-Run Crash in Goleta
GOLETA, CA (February 9, 2020) – Two pedestrians were killed in DUI hit-and-run crash late Sunday afternoon in Goleta.
The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. on Cathedral Oaks Road, just east of Ellwood Ridge Road.
According to police, a man and his wife were walking their dog on a bike path on the north side of Cathedral Oaks road. A blue Nissan 370Z Roadster convertible then struck them.
As a result, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The wife was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where she also died.
Authorities identified the victims as Mary Jane Becerra Corral and Adolfo Corral, both 44, of Goleta.
The driver, identified as 39-year-old Eric Mauricio Ramirez Aguilar of Goleta, fled the scene on foot. Police arrested him more than three hours later in Carpinteria and booked him into County Jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit and run causing death.
The Corrals left behind four children, 20-year-old Azalea, 17-year-old Dahlia, 14-year-old Dominic and 10-year-old Rose.
A GoFundMe account has been created for the Corrals family aimed to raise $150,000. As of late Monday night, the fund had raised more than $120,100.
