Authorities Identified the Passenger Killed in 605 Freeway Crash as Marvin Martinez
DOWNEY, CA (November 4, 2019) – A man died in a car accident Monday morning on 605 Freeway in Downey.
The fatal crash happened around 5:40 a.m. just south of Florence Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2014 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 24-year-old Temple City woman, was heading northbound on the freeway when it went down an embankment, where it struck a tree.
As a result, the man who was in the front passenger seat, died at the scene. Authorities identified him as Marvin Aron Martinez, 20, of Corona.
The driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital, CHP officials said.
Authorities did not rule out intoxication as a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
