Injuries Reported in Merced County Auto Accident on Highway 165 and River Road
MERCED COUNTY, CA (June 6, 2023) – Friday night, an alarming 2-vehicle crash on Highway 165 and River Road involved Martin Sanchez Montes.
The incident occurred at around 9:00 p.m. on Highway 165, just north of River Road and south of Hilar.
According to reports, Sanchez Montes of Firebaugh drove a tow truck north on Highway 165 towing some type of big rig combination.
Then, as the driver maneuvered a curve in the road, the trailer from the vehicle steered into the southbound lane and crashed with a Jeep Wrangler.
After the crash, the driver of the Jeep, a 36-year-old man from Norwood, Colo., was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, Montes stayed on the scene and cooperated with officers.
Furthermore, the CHP does not believe that drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
