Serious Injuries Reported in Santa Barbara Accident on Cliff Drive
SANTA BARBARA, CA (July 7, 2021) – Sunday night, authorities arrested Marlon Anibal Mejia after a DUI crash on Cliff Drive.
The incident happened at about 9:20 p.m. in the 2300 block of Cliff Drive. Several Santa Barbara Police Officers, Fire Department, and AMR Paramedic units came to the scene after a report of a serious injury traffic crash.
According to reports, the incident involved a single motor vehicle that crashed with a tree.
Some witnesses revealed that a black Ford Mustang traveled at a high rate of speed east on Cliff Drive. Then, the driver lost control while driving the windy road. Then, the vehicle crashed into a large tree on the ocean side of Cliff Drive.
Also, the authorities said that three passengers rode the vehicle during the crash.
The Santa Barbara Police Critical Accident Team came to the scene because of the seriously injured patients.
Meanwhile, the Fire Department personnel used special equipment to extricate the patients. Then, they took all four occupants to Cottage Hospital for medical treatment.
The authorities identified the driver of the vehicle as 23-year-old Marlon Anibal Mejia from Santa Barbara. They suspect that Mejia was under the influence during the crash. Thus, they administratively placed him under arrest while he received further medical treatment.
The authorities continue to investigate the crash.
Dealing with Injury Accidents
Accidents can leave you or your passengers severely injured, disfigured, and permanently disabled. Common events on the road can just as swiftly become safety hazards.
To avoid being involved in an auto accident, a driver must aim high in steering. Don’t make your steering adjustments based on what is directly in front of you, but rather what is down the road. If the road is winding to the right, for example, look as far into the turn as possible. This will improve your safety and make your turns smoother.
Also, the most valuable step you can take in response to a crash is hiring a personal injury attorney. Personal injury attorneys prioritize your recovery. At the same time, securing your future from further losses a severe accident can bring.
“A common misconception is that personal injury lawyers don’t care. That is simply not true. Injury lawyers care about and want justice for their clients. Also, we are driven by the desire to make our clients whole again,” says Steve Baric of Sweet Lawyers.
If you or a loved one has recently been involved in a similar accident, you do not have to face the aftermath alone. Our attorneys will guide you through every step of the way.
