Woodland Driver Dies after Crash on 80 Freeway near Macdonald Avenue
RICHMOND, CA (January 15, 2020) – The driver who was killed in a car accident Wednesday evening in Richmond has been identified.
The crash happened just after 7:00 p.m. on eastbound 80 Freeway near Macdonald Avenue off-ramp.
CHP officials did not provide details of the vehicle and how the crash occurred. But the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe impact.
The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division identified the deceased as Mark Zane, 68, of Woodland in Yolo County.
The crash raised a SigAlert in the area, closed the fifth lane followed by a shutdown of the off-ramp for unknown duration.
An investigation into this fatal accident is ongoing.
