3 Hurt, 11-Year-Old Mark Neives-Pina Dead in Glenn County Accident on 5 Freeway
GLENN COUNTY, CA (July 14, 2020) – Early Saturday morning, Mark Neives-Pina died and three others suffered injuries in a tractor-trailer crash on the 5 Freeway.
According to reports, just after midnight, a northbound tractor-trailer on the 5 Freeway, south of County Road 60, lost control. As a result, the semi overturned and blocked both lanes of 5 Freeway north.
The officers revealed that as a result, an SUV driving behind the semi crashed into it.
Thus, the driver of the SUV and a passenger suffered injuries. Meanwhile, the 11-year-old boy, Mark Neives-Pina, sitting succumbed to his injuries in the back seat.
Moreover, an adult female passenger, Marie Villasenor, suffered major injuries. Responders airlifted her to a local hospital. Furthermore, the 48-year-old San Jose driver, Jose Neives, sustained minor injuries.
Also, the authorities arrested the SUV driver for driving under the influence.
The CHP also revealed that the 58-year-old semi-truck driver from Washington, Brian Lam, sustained minor injuries. Responders took him to the hospital for treatment.
Due to the crash, the authorities shut down the northbound lanes of 5 Freeway for more than 8 hours. Moreover, they diverted the traffic from the wreckage.
