Man Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 1 near Scott Creek Bridge Identified
DAVENPORT, CA (August 11, 2019) – Authorities identified 24-year-old Mark Muonio of Santa Clara as the man killed in a head-on collision on Highway 1, Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 2:30 PM. Due to unknown reasons, Muonio lost control of his Mitsubishi near Scott Creek Bridge. Then, it collided with a northbound Pontiac.
Unfortunately, Muonio succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision. Meanwhile, emergency responders transported the Pontiac driver, identified as 52-year-old Darin Richard Hardin, and his passenger, 51-year-old Alicia Marie Gurnee, to a hospital with major injuries.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the collision. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
