Mark Langford in Fatal Collision of Pickup Truck and Horse with Rider in Olancha
OLANCHA, CA (July 30, 2019) – A fatal crash on Highway 395 claimed the life of a horse and its rider late Sunday morning.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred just north Cactus Flats Road. The horse and its rider were near Highway 395. At the same time, Mark Langford of Bishop was driving a pickup truck with trailer southbound on the highway.
Langford reportedly saw the horse reared up as the pickup approached. He tried to move left to give them room. However, the horse suddenly bolted into the southbound lane. As a result, the horse ran directly into the right side of the pickup and trailer.
The officers said the horse and the unidentified rider died on the scene. The Inyo County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the victim.
On the other hand, no one inside the pickup got hurt. The investigation is ongoing.
