61-Year-Old Man Killed in Workplace Accident at Monterey Mushrooms Royal Oaks Facility
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (July 23, 2018) – A man was killed late Monday morning after a tractor ran over him at a work site on Maher Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at about 11:00 AM. They received a call regarding an accident involving a tractor and an employee at the Monterey Mushrooms Royal Oaks facility at 777 Maher Road.
When the authorities arrived, they found 61-year-old Mark Donald Odle of Aromas injured by the tractor’s front-end loader. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The driver of the tractor, only identified as a 52-year-old Watsonville man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with officials during their investigation.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health arrived at the scene to resume the investigation. Events that led to the deadly incident and possible contributing factors are still being determined. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
