43-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident near County Road 225A
DURANGO, CO (April 21, 2018) – Early Saturday morning, a Durango man was fatally struck by a vehicle on Highway 160 near the intersection with County Road 225A.
The man was identified as 43-year-old Mark Deuel, according to Capt Adrian Driscoll of the Colorado State Patrol. Driscoll stated that Deuel was lying in the middle of the road near mile marker 94 around 1:20 AM when he was struck by a westbound 2001 Suzuki Swift. The vehicle was driven by 47-year-old Dana Clark of Pagosa Springs. Clark’s vehicle ran off the road after the impact.
Driscoll stated that speed and alcohol are not suspected on the part of the driver, but alcohol may have been a factor in why Deuel was in the road. The incident is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
