Several Sustained Injuries in Skagit County Two-Vehicle Collision
Skagit County, WA (September 7, 2022) – On Tuesday, 72-year-old Mark Bluhm of Mount Vernon, and others were injured in a vehicle crash on Bow Hill Road.
The Washington State Patrol responded to the crash scene at the intersection with Ershig Road at around 1:47 PM.
According to the officers who are investigating this case, 17-year-old Baltazar Gallardo of Mount Vernon was Northbound in a red 2007 Jeep Liberty on Ershig Road. His vehicle was approaching Bow Hill Road with four passengers inside the vehicle.
However, Baltazar Gallardo failed to stop at the intersection’s stop sign and drove in front of a westbound 2011 Chevy Equinox driven by Mark Bluhm.
The two vehicles collided and the Jeep Liberty rolled over. Then, the Jeep struck a light pole before it finally rested. The Equinox, on the other hand, rested off the roadway.
Immediately, the medical team responded and rushed Mark Bluhm to United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley for treatment. Officers say he was wearing a seatbelt during the crash.
The medical team also took Baltazar Gallardo to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon for treatment. The authorities say was wearing a seat belt.
Moreover, the paramedics airlifted Paulina Garcia, 19, and another female, both Jeep Liberty passengers to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries. According to the authorities, they were not wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened.
Another Jeep Liberty passenger, Alejandrino Garcia, sustained injuries. The paramedics treated him at the scene and later released him. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Cecelia Gonzales, 17, also a Jeep Liberty passenger, sustained injuries in the accident. The medical team transported her to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon with injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.
Officers say the cause of the Skagit County two-vehicle collision is “Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign”. The authorities noted that drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the traffic incident.
Both the Chevy Equinox and the Jeep Liberty were totaled in the crash.
