Highway 280 Crash Killed Freeway Service Patrol Driver Mark Alarcon
Woodside, CA(June 24, 2020) – On Tuesday, Freeway Service Patrol driver Mark Alarcon died in a crash on Interstate 280.
The accident happened at about 3:40 p.m. on southbound Highway 280 between Farm Hill Boulevard and Edgewood Road.
A lumber truck was moving south when it left the road and hit the Freeway Service Patrol truck. FSP helps during commute hours by giving gas and other services to people who need it. Their services are paid by the state of California.
Moreover, the lumber truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
CHP spokesman Officer Art Montiel said impairment does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
Meanwhile, southbound lanes of I-280 were closed for hours as authorities conduct their investigation.
We at Sweet Lawyers extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mark Alarcon. May you find strength in this painful time.
The Aftermath of Tragic Road Accident
As the loved ones of a deceased victim grieve, it is difficult to accept such a loss that could have been prevented.
It is crucial that the family of the victim becomes aware that they have the authority to file a wrongful death suit
A wrongful death suit allows families to hold parties liable for the irrevocable damages they have caused.
“I think the misconception is that when a loved one passes away, the insurance company and the defendant will automatically admit liability and offer all of the funds available.”
“Insurance companies will try to save money, even if it means not fully compensating a family for the wrongful death of a loved one. When a family retains an attorney immediately, it gives the family time to grieve their loss, and their attorney can start focusing on holding the negligent party accountable,” says Tyler Toomey, a seasoned attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
