36-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle near Hancock Expressway
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (July 29, 2018) – A woman lost her life after suffering serious injuries from a pedestrian crash near Hancock Expressway, late Sunday morning. The deceased victim was later identified by the coroner’s office as 36-year-old Marjorie Mestas.
As per reports, Mestas was crossing South Academy Boulevard when she was struck by a northbound sedan. Police officials and first responders arrived at the scene to find the woman critically injured.
Mestas transported the critically injured woman to a local hospital for treatment and medical evaluation. On August 2nd, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Witnesses claimed that the sedan was driving through a green light when the collision happened. Speed, drugs, and alcohol were also ruled out as possible contributing factors in the accident. The Colorado Springs Police Department stated that charges are not expected, following the conclusion of the investigation.
