Denelle Hargrove Arrested in Weverville DUI Accident on State Route 299 near Ransom Road
WEAVERVILLE, CA (September 15, 2023) – Thursday afternoon, Marissa Pena sustained injuries in an alarming DUI crash on State Route 299 near Ransom Road.
The incident happened at around 12:51 p.m. on State Route 299, east of Ransom Road.
According to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office, a blue 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo struck a pedestrian on the right shoulder of State Route 299. Then, the suspect vehicle fled the scene without stopping to provide aid.
Moreover, responders rushed the pedestrian, 28-year-old Pena of Antioch, to Trinity General Hospital and then transferred to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with life-threatening injuries.
Furthermore, officers managed to locate and arrest the hit-and-run driver with the help of a motorist who witnessed the crash. Officers said that the suspect, Denelle J. Hargrove of Lewiston, will face charges for felony driving under the influence, causing injury to another, and felony hit-and-run causing injury.
At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
