30-Year-Old Moreno Valley Man Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck near Country Club Drive

SAN JACINTO, CA (July 10, 2018) – A man was killed Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck near Country Club Drive.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at around 2:34 PM at 19625 Gilman Springs Road. A 2005 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by 30-year-old Mario Rodriguez of Moreno Valley, was eastbound at a speed exceeding the posted 45 mph speed limit.

The excessive speed caused the rider to lose control of the motorcycle, cross the double yellow line, and collide head-on with a westbound white 2008 Chevrolet Colorado. Rodriguez was ejected from his bike as a result of the impact.

After sustaining critical injuries, Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene by the responding paramedics. 58-year-old Donald Boring of Yucaipa, the driver of the Chevrolet, and a passenger were reportedly unharmed and stayed at the scene to cooperate with officials during their investigation.

Drugs and alcohol were being investigated as possible contributing factors in the incident. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.

We extend our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of Mario Rodriguez. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult and trying time. May he rest in peace.
