25-Year-Old Palm Springs Man Killed and One Injured in Three-Vehicle Collision on El Cielo Road
PALM SPRINGS, CA (March 17, 2018) – A Palm Springs man was killed and another person injured in a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Ramon Road and El Cielo Road on Friday night.
Palm Springs Police officials arrived at the scene around 11:00 PM after a collision that took place because a driver took a wrong-way turn onto Palm Drive. Authorities confirmed that 25-year-old Mario Armando Garcia was killed in the crash. They believe that alcohol may have been a factor in the fatal accident.
Garcia and another driver were trapped inside their vehicles and had to be pulled out from the wreckage by emergency personnel. The second driver was transported to a loacal hospital for treatment, while the occupants of the third vehicle were not injured.
The roadway was closed for more than six hours while authorities were investigating the incident and crews cleaned up.
