Mario Chi Casanova Killed in Rollover Crash on Hillcrest Drive [Newbury Park, CA]

Newbury Park, CA (September 03, 2021) – On Wednesday, 19-year-old Mario Chi Casanova of Thousand Oaks, dies, while four others suffered injuries in a rollover crash on Hillcrest Drive.

The fatal crash took place at about 10:10 p.m., west of Citation Way.

When the officers arrived, they found a sedan upside down on the westbound side of the roadway. Its driver and four passengers were lying on the ground close to the wrecked vehicle.

Casanova, one of the passengers, died from his injuries.

Reports said the vehicle was westbound at high speed when it left the roadway and collided into a tree just west of Citation Way.

Right away, rescuers took the driver and two passengers by ambulance to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks. 

They also took two other passengers, including Casanova, to Ventura County Medical Center. 

Officers said the four survivors all sustained serious injuries.

Moreover, the authorities said all the passengers in the car were teenagers. Two are 15, one 16, and two 19, including Casanova. 

Investigating officers discovered signs that street racing may have been involved in the crash.

Meanwhile, officers are still investigating the cause of the Hillcrest Drive crash. They consider speed as a contributing factor.
