Mario Calderas of Caruthers Killed in Collision on Lincoln Avenue [Fresno County, CA]

Fresno County Collision Under Investigation

Fresno County, CA (March 15, 2024) – 27-year-old Mario Calderas of Caruthers was killed and another was injured following a vehicle collision on Lincoln Avenue Friday morning.

The fatal semi-truck collision happened on Marks Avenue west of Easton.

Officers said Calderas was driving a northbound SUV northbound on Marks Avenue and failed to stop at the intersection.

An eastbound big rig on Lincoln struck the SUV.

As a result, the SUV turned over ejecting Mario Calderas. Responding officers declared him dead at the scene.

Moreover, the big rig swerved into a canal and started fire.

The big rig driver sustained minor injuries.

Officers are investigating if alcohol and/or drugs played a role in this collision pending toxicology results.
