Hemet Woman Dies after 2 Pickup Truck Collide Head-On in Perris
PERRIS, CA (November 1, 2019) – A woman was killed following a head-on crash Friday morning in Perris, authorities said.
The crash happened around 11:24 a.m. on Highway 74, also known as West 4th Street, at Navajo Road.
According to reports, a Ford F-150 was stopped facing eastbound in the left turn lane on Highway 74 waiting to turn northbound on Navajo Road. A Nissan Frontier going westbound on West 4th Street veered into the turn lane and struck the Ford head-on.
As a result, a female passenger in the Ford suffered serious injuries. Paramedics rushed her to Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where she later died.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Marina “Marinita” Pena De Reyes, 78, of Hemet.
Family and friends of Pena De Reyes have created a GoFundMe account to help deal with burial costs and other expenses.
The drivers of both trucks and some passengers were injured and hospitalized.
Officials said alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The sheriff’s Perris station asked anyone who witnessed the crash to call them at 951-210-1078.
