3 Vehicles Involved in Deadly DUI Fiery Crash on Highway 1 in Marina
MARINA, CA (December 5, 2018) – One person was killed following a fiery DUI crash late Wednesday afternoon in Marina.
The crash happened around 5:25 p.m. on Highway 1 under 8th Street overcrossing near Imjin Parkway.
According to an initial report by the CHP, up to three vehicles were involved. One of the vehicles, a Jeep, caught fire and became fully engulfed. Debris was scattered across all lanes.
The driver of the Jeep was trapped inside the burning vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of a pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Three lanes were shut down and traffic was diverted onto Lightfighter Avenue. All lanes were re-opened a little after 9:00 p.m.
