Fatal Afternoon Crash on 580 Freeway at Grant Line Road
LIVERMORE, CA (January 23, 2019) – A woman was killed following a car accident Wednesday afternoon on 580 Freeway in Livermore.
The fatal crash happened around 1:16 p.m. just West of Grant Line Road off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2007 Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound on 580 Freeway when it struck a roadside barrels and went about 100 feet down an embankment before landing and overturning at the bottom.
Alameda County Fire Department crews responded and pronounced the driver dead at the scene. The deceased was later identified by coroner’s officials as a 76-year-old Marilyn Binder of Los Angeles.
CHP officers raised a SigAlert in the area, closing two lanes of westbound 580 Freeway while they documented the collision scene. The alert was cancelled an hour later.
Further investigation is underway.
