Two Killed and Three Injured in Single-Vehicle Accident near Upper San Leandro Reservoir
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA (July 14, 2018) – Two women were killed late Saturday evening and three others were injured after a vehicle overturned near the Upper San Leandro Reservoir.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash took place shortly after 10:30 PM. For unknown reasons, a red Mazda overturned near the intersection of Redwood Road and Marciel Road.
Two people inside the Mazda sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. They were later identified as 56-year-old Hayward resident Maria Ybarra and 27-year-old Virginia resident Kelsie Hansen. Three others – two adult males and a 15-year-old boy – were hospitalized after sustaining unspecified injuries. Updates on their condition were not immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the events that led to the deadly accident. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
