1 Person Arrested in Salinas Fatal Accident on North Davis Road

SALINAS, CA (June 4, 2023) – On Friday, Maria Viurquez-Benavidez died in a tragic vehicle crash on North Davis Road.

The incident happened on North Davis Road.

According to Public Information Officer for The Salinas Police Department Brian Johnson, a BMW lost control for still unknown reasons and collided with a Dodge Journey.

Moreover, responders confirmed that an occupant of the Dodge, 33-year-old Viurquez-Benavidez, died in the collision. Then, paramedics transported the BMW driver, one of its passengers, and the 44-year-old male driver of the Dodge to a hospital with unknown injuries. Also, officers arrested the 16-year-old driver of the BWV on suspicion of DUI.

Furthermore, a witness claims that the BMW driver and its passenger looked like they came from a nearby business before the incident occurred.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information became available, the public will be notified.
