Rollover Vehicle Accident Kills Maria Lozano on Highway 101 in Palo Alto
Palo Alto, (April 23, 2020)– Maria Lozano dies after swerving to avoid an earlier collision on Highway 101 on Monday afternoon.
According to CHP Officer Pablo Rios, a minor collision between two vehicles happened at approximately 4:20 p.m. on April 20, blocking a lane on the U.S. 101 Highway.
Two vehicles had collided around the north of Embarcadero Road, an accident that did not initially include Ms. Lozano.
Rios said that Lozano, in her tan Chevrolet Tahoe and northbound on Highway 101, made a turn to avoid the crash ahead, which caused the vehicle to roll over on the road.
Due to the impact of the rollover crash, Maria Lozano was ejected from her vehicle and died, Rios reported.
Her 13 year-old-daughter, also a passenger in her car at the time of the crash, survived, sustaining minor injuries.
Soon after, three lanes had to be closed off after the incident and it is still unknown when it will be reopened. Meanwhile, two lanes remained unblocked.
