1 Dead and 4 Hospitalized after Santa Maria Car Accident
SANTA MARIA, CA (December 10, 2019) – A 51-year-old woman died and four others sustained injuries in a car accident on Highway 101.
According to reports, the 49-year-old driver, Octavio Toldeo Hernandez of Santa Maria lost control of the Lincoln Navigator while driving 65 mph in the No. 1 lane for unidentified reasons. He then struck a tree near the shoulder. The incident occurred on northbound Highway 101 just south of Highway 58.
51-year-old Maria Guadalupe Toldeo sat in the second row of the vehicle which carried five occupants.
Maria Guadalupe Toldeo wore a seatbelt when the crash happened. As a result, she sustained major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, responders took Octavio Toldeo Hernandez and three other passengers to Sierra Vista Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. However, only three of them sustained injuries.
The incident occurred during the heavy rain showers and the National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the county.
