72-Year-Old Bakersfield Woman Fatally Injured in Pedestrian Collision near Noble Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 28, 2018) – An elderly woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on River Boulevard, late Friday morning. The deceased victim was later identified as 72-year-old Maria Garcia of Bakersfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 11:56 AM, near Noble Avenue. Garcia was reportedly crossing the street when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle.
She was taken to the Kern Medical Center in critical condition. She later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical professionals. No other injuries were reported in the fatal incident.
It is unclear whether or not drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the collision, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the events leading up to the crash. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
