78-Year-Old Maria Del Carmen Sandoval-Cuellar Dies in Gateway North Boulevard Collision [El Paso, TX]

El Paso, TX (May 7, 2024) – 78-year-old Maria Del Carmen Sandoval-Cuellar and 50-year-old Ana Sandoval were killed following a Gateway North Boulevard collision Sunday evening.

It was about 6:30 p.m. when the fatal collision happened at the intersection with State Line Road.

Police officers said a military bus was northbound on Gateway North approaching the intersection of State Line Road.

At the same time, an eastbound van driven by Ana Sandoval on State Line pulled out in front of the bus as it approached the intersection.

The bus then T-boned the van.

Immediately, the rescuers rushed Ana Sandoval to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Maria Del Carmen Sandoval-Cuellar was the front passenger in the van. She unfortunately died at the scene.

Three other van occupants were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Their ages ranged from 5 to 12.

The driver of the military bus was injured. They remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Police did say one passenger on the military bus received a non-life-threatening injury.

Twenty-four soldiers riding the bus during the collision were transported to area hospitals. 23 were treated and released while one was taken to University Medical Center in stable condition.
