Interstate 8 Crash Kills Maria Del Carmen Estrada De Dore, Injures Others
Alpine, CA (June 05, 2021) – On Thursday, 63-year-old Maria Del Carmen Estrada De Dore was killed, while others were injured in a fiery crash on Interstate 8.
The devastating accident took place minutes after 6 p.m. near Tavern Road.
Apparently, a black 2006 GMC Sierra pickup and a black 2000 Toyota Solara sedan were both westboound on the freeway. For reasons still under investigation, the two vehicles collided.
They both drifted toward the center divider which is a shrub-covered median that slopes down toward eastbound lanes.
The Solara, driven by an 18-year-old man from Los Angeles rested in the median.
On the other hand, the Sierra pickup continued down the embankment, subsequently crashing with those in the eastbound lanes.
A report from the CHP stated that at least one of the vehicles also caught fire.
Estrada de Dore is a backseat passenger of the truck. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Unfortunately, she was thrown from the vehicle and lost her life at the scene.
Meanwhile, the pickup driver, a 65-year-old Chula Vista man and the front-seat passenger, a 58-year-old San Diego woman suffered major injuries, same as the Solara’s teen driver.
The medics team took all three to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.
Initial investigation indicates that neither drug nor alcohol impairment were factors in the fatal incident
