Morning Crash with Milk Tanker Truck in Turlock Leads to Major Injuries
TURLOCK, CA (May 27, 2019) – A woman and a man were injured following a traffic collision with a milk tanker truck Monday morning in Turlock.
The collision happened around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of East Keyes and Geer roads.
According to the CHP, a 55-year-old Maria Alay of Hughson was driving 1993 Honda northbound on Geer Road at approximately 55 mph when she ran the red light at the Keyes Road intersection.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Calderon, 27, of Turlock, was driving a 2016 Western semi truck hauling a milk tanker heading eastbound. As he was entering the intersection, he saw the Honda doing the same, and veered sharply to the left.
The vehicles collided and the truck overturned onto Keyes Road. The Honda came to rest in the eastbound lane of Keyes Road.
Alay was pinned inside the car for about an hour as firefighters worked to extricate her. She was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.
Calderon sustained minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
