Margarita Arellano and Albert Arroyo ID’d As Fatalities in Lucerne Valley Car Accident
LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (UPDATE) – On July 3, Margarita Arellano, 37, died in a head-on crash on Highway 18, west of Custer Avenue.
Moreover, the fatal crash occurred before 6:45 a.m. when a 37-year-old man, identified as Albert Arroyo, drove Nissan Altima eastbound.
For reasons unknown, he then steered into the eastbound lane.
Thus, the Nissan directly drove into the path of a 69-year-old Lucerne Valley man driving a Mazda CX-5, with Ms. Arellano in the passenger seat.
“Both drivers took evasive action and directed their vehicles to the south dirt shoulder where a head-on collision occurred,” CHP spokesperson Michael Mumford revealed.
Subsequently, the Mazda driver sustained severe injuries and was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Consequently, Ms. Arellano, a Lucerne Valley resident, succumbed to her injuries at the scene, according to the San Bernardino’s Sheriff’s Department.
Meanwhile, three passengers of the Nissan sustained moderate injuries. Responders transported them to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Furthermore, the CHP revealed that all occupants work their seat belts during the crash. Moreover, authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol in the crash.
